Squaw's Upper Mountain Trail Fund

The Friends of Squaw have entered a 6th season of operating Big Squaw Mountain Ski Area in rural Maine.  The legendary upper mountain has been abandoned since March 2004.  The upward momentum is building and the first steps have been taken as we awaken this sleeping beauty.

In February of 2017, the Penobscot and East Branch Trails were groomed for the first time in 13 years. Private snocat rides to the summit were offered as a fundraiser. Thank you Frank Sabo of Sabo CP in Hingham, Mass, Stress Free Moose Pub of Downtown Greenville, Brian & Kristen Gillis of Framingham, MA, Creative Dental of Bangor, Maine. Matty Haskell of Bangor Blaze. Jack & Barbara Plunkett of Greenville, Maine, The Ducharme Family of New York, Mark Brown, Karen Wolf and Betsy Richard. In November 2017 our new BR350 was delivered and paid for in full!

In June 2017 we began auctioning off chairs from the original double, summit lift.  Thank you Adam & Elizabeth Moskovitz of Bangor, Maine, Ted & Lisa Taylor or Bangor, Maine and Paul & Laurel Curtis of Dexter, Maine for your contributions to the Upper Mountain Trail Fund. We have hired B&C Logging of Beaver Cove, Maine to do the machine work. The East Branch Trail was completed in November 2017 and the project has been paid in full!

Our next goals include more work on the overgrown and erroded trails beginning with the Penobscot, Seboomook and Moose.   Trail work will be followed quickly by securing a passenger cab for affordable transportation to the summit.  You can help.

We have opened a special account at Bangor Savings Bank for anyone who wishes to make a deposit directly. Checks can be delivered to the lodge or the PO Box 307 in Greenville Jct, ME  04442

***Donations of $500 or more will include private transportation and first tracks on the Upper Penobscot for 2 people on the date of your choice***

***Donations of $1,500 or more will include a Chair from the original summit lift***

Here's to big dreams and those who believe enough to make them come true!!!
