Dan’s 40th Birthday

Hey there, it’s Jase here, Dan’s husband. Dan’s 40th Birthday is coming up, and I’d love to do something special for her. 

As some of you know, the last couple of years have been tough ones for us, with Amelie and then Edie having some significant health problems. This has meant lots of changes for us, lots of stress and lots of, just, life to do. We end most days pretty exhausted, and it always feels like there’s 100 more things we should do before bed. As much as I like to think I’m a half decent husband, there’s no doubt Dan has born the majority of the stress and the stuff that’s been added to our lives, and she’s done it while being a loving, caring Mum to all our kids and super loving, patient, supportive (I could go on forever here) wife to me. 

Something else that’s happened as a result of the madness of the last couple of years is that we’ve lost connection with a lot of people we love. This has happened due to the sheer volume of life we’ve had to deal with, which has meant we’ve pulled away from some things, worked less and just haven’t had time to reach out as much as we would have liked to. Know that we’re really sorry about this, it’s one of our biggest regrets of the last couple of years, but it’s made an already difficult time feel a bit lonely. 

That’s why now, with Edie’s surgery behind us and Dan’s 40th a bit over a month away, I’d like her to be reminded just how awesome, loved and appreciated she is.

So what I’d like to ask from all of you is that you would write Dan just a brief message for her birthday that I’d like to compile into something she can treasure. Now, I’m not talking about a generic birthday message, what I’d like is for Dan to be reminded what you love and appreciate about her. This shouldn’t be too hard, cause she’s one of the more amazing people in the world, so let me know if you’re keen to get involved and shoot through your message to me on Facey or on my email: [email redacted].au.

Also, if there’s someone that you know that would like to add to this that I might have missed, feel free to share this message with them. I’m sure even I don’t know how many people love and appreciate her, but together we might catch everyone.

Finally (I know, it’s a lot already), because I haven’t worked as much as I could have the last couple of years (family first), I’m struggling to cover the cost of some of the things I’d like to do for Dan for her birthday. Two of these things are a professional top to bottom house clean (sounds like an absurd present I know, but it’s something that stresses her out, and I’m all about reducing that stress), and hopefully, some real plans for the renovation we’ve been talking about for a while. I’m really not asking for much, a couple of bucks from a few of you would help, so if you’d like to put something towards these things, I’ve set up this gofundme page (again, feels absurd, but also feels like an easy way to go about things). Please don’t feel any pressure to give anything, the messages of love and waaaay more important, but if you could, we’d both really appreciate it (even though she won’t know about it for a couple of weeks).
