HAIR FOR HER

What happened? 
Mattie Cunningham was unexpectedly diagnosed with Leukemia on June 23rd, 2018. In one day her entire day flipped around. She realized that instead of spending her summer break relaxing with her friends, she would be in the hospital battling cancer. Mattie explained that it felt like a bad dream that she could not wake up from. She realized this was the path God had for her. So she was going to trust him through it, and do all she could to "fight strong and kick cancer’s butt."


She spent an entire month at Children’s Hospital with constant treatments including chemotherapy. If one of you has ever seen a loved one go through chemotherapy, you know that hair loss happens very fast. Mattie began losing hair in patches and shortly had to shave it all off. 


As woman, whether we like to admit it or not, so much of our self confidence, perception of beauty, and identity lies in our hair. I mean, how many times have we skipped an event simply because our hair was greasy and we felt gross? Or those other times when we have had a good hair day and we feel like we're on top of the world? 


At one point, Mattie expressed wanting to get a wig. Unfortunately those wigs are so unbelievably expensive. 

That’s where we come in. 

Reality is, none of us can just drop a 1k for wig, but we can donate $40, $25, or even $5. No amount is too small . Together, we can truly brighten her world and bring a smile to her face. How priceless is that? Knowing you helped make a difference in someone’s life.
In such a broken world, let’s show Christ’s love and love one another generously. 'Tis the season. 


When Mattie gets her wig, it will be so much more than just about the hair itself. It’s about knowing that people out remembered and cared enough about you to support you as you went through some of the most difficult, trialing times in your life. It’s about not feeling alone. It will always be a symbol to her. A symbol of support, love, and care.
