In a nutshell
Over the Top is what happens when three lads decide to make their childhood dream come true. In a nutshell, this summer and autumn we’ll be hitchhiking all around Europe to climb the highest point of each country on the continent.
We’ll do this without ever boarding an aircraft and all the while raising money for a few charity goals of our choice. If we succeed in reaching the highest point of those 47 countries in less than 835 days, we hold ourselves a new Guinness World Record !
So you expect we're all experienced mountaineers?
Well... No. Of course, we're no couchpotatoes but we're not exactly likely to reach the summit of Mt. Blanc on a unicycle, while whistling la cucaracha either. What we DO have, is a very particular set of skills to help us on our way. Yannick is our expert in video-editing, Andreas is the logistical mind and Bertrand has a vast palmares of hitchhiking adventures to fall back on.

Awesome! How can I help?
Unfortunately we can't pay for everything ourselves. By donating, no matter what amount, you can help the dream of three young blokes come true AND you're contributing to the well-being of many others. Since many people don't have the liberty or opportunity to climb mountains or chase records, we want to support them by raising money and awareness.
But where does all that money go to?
First, note that we won't spend a penny more than what is absolutely necessary. Second, except for some boats (Europe has a lot of island nations!), we will hitchhike the entire distance! Yes, somewhere around 30 000 km. Each.

As you see, we try to be as economical and ecological as possible, but still we'll have to book some expeditions and ferries, get a visa for Russia and Belarus or get some food from time to time. By using CouchSurfing and bringing our tent on the trip, we can get the sleeping costs to almost 0!
Any amount of money that excedes our strecht goal, along with fifteen percent of ALL the money we raise here and sponsorships coming our way will go automatically to three charities we've handpicked carefully. Let us present them to you:
Yannick wanted to do something for our friends of the animal kingdom and picked 'Elephant Haven' as his charity. Elephant Haven is a sanctuary for sidetracked elephants in the south of France.
Bertrand's affiliation in Scouting pushed him to choose 'Open Kampen', an initiative aimed to bring scouting to underprivileged children during the summer months.
Andreas wants to help the disadvantaged people of Villa el Salvador, a slum in Peru. He has lived in Peru for a while and feels strongly connected to the country and its people. Suyana Peru is the perfect organisation for him to give back to this country.
