A Sad Story of Children and their Father- Please help get The Overdevest Children home
Pete has been a devoted father since day one, right from bringing the kids to the barn with him as infants, to taking them in the tractor with him for field work. At the kids ages of 1,3, and 5 their mother left the marriage and the family went into a shared custody arrangement. Two years later the mother left the children with their father in Ontario and returned to the Netherlands to live, where she was from. Pete didn't hire a nanny but an extra hired man for the barn to allow him to raise the children, he vowed to always put his children first! Almost three years later, Pete's son was in a tragic farm accident and was hospitalized, enduring a brain injury and many months of rehab. Pete was by his side along with his girls every step of the way. The mother returned from the Netherlands and immediately started many lawsuits. The court awarded her shared custody again because “she is the mother” even after having had lived away for almost 3 years, two different Child Custody and Access Assessments were done, proving Pete a great father and the mother unable to make decisions. After four years of continual court battles with Pete having to defend himself in over 10 court appearances it was evident the mother did not get the money she had hoped. Recently the mother even filed and lost a lawsuit against her own son's insurance money. The mother then abducted the children. On October 3, 2016 she falsified a consent form, got the children on a plane and made it to the Netherlands. Pete was given full custody through the Canadian courts, due largely to this mother having no regard to the Courts and the court agreements. With the court costs and all legal fees this has put quite a financial burden on this family. Already over 10's of thousands of dollars and now the abduction. Pete has had to use not only his Canadian Lawyer but hire a Lawyer from the Netherlands. To abide by “The Hague Convention”, Pete must now fly to the Netherlands to defend his position in a Dutch court December 20. He faces Christmas with no children. The children are Canadian Citizens and have been kept from speaking to anyone in Canada for almost 10 weeks. The children were allowed a very brief phone conversation with their father, but were not allowed to tell him where they were, any phone numbers or information. They have been kept from facebook and all social media. This is truly an outrage for both the children and their devoted father. A story that needs to be shared, fathers should have rights too!
