Help Create Our Mobility Greenway!

My name is Darnel Harris, and I am a community advocate. For the last four years I’ve had the honor to engage in dialogue with businesses, residents, and community organizations to co-develop a community driven mobility plan to strengthen northwest Toronto.
The Our Greenway plan (pictured above) will create the world’s first suburban roadside linear park network – a 21-kilometer ‘green spine’ suitable for all ages and abilities, a range of mobility devices and emergency services.
Right now, we are fundraising to create a Friends of Our Greenway organization, and to create additional illustrations and outreach materials to ensure the Mobility Greenway is constructed as the community has envisioned – a Complete Street designed for the suburbs!
Why is this so important?
Everyone knows that the Finch West LRT is coming, and businesses, entrepreneurs and residents have serious concerns. They have seen livelihoods fall apart due to the ongoing transit construction on Eglinton. Some had to shutter their stores when St. Clair West was under construction. They see their gridlocked streets and know vehicle traffic is likely just to get worse. They also know how expensive it is to move people and goods around their community.
We realize this is a once in a generation opportunity to reshape their community for the better. We need a plan that generates living wage jobs at the scale they are needed. We need safe ways to travel and connect with each other locally, as most trips are local. We need a design that works in winter, supports emergency services and contributes to a healthy and sustainable community.
That’s why we need a Mobility Greenway - and need you to support Our Greenway.
