"Our Michael" Mike T's Big Match

This is Michael's story. We are raising money to help him on his way to recovery. His family and friends love him very much. Mike was admitted to ICU Critical Care Unit at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis on April 25th. He remained there, fighting a vicious sepsis, an infection in the bloodstream, attributed to Group A Strep bacteria and the toxic shock syndrome that ravaged his body.

   Critical care is not only about the patient but also requires tremendous resources and support from those around him. For the many of you who are asking, "What can we do to help"? His family, friends and in fact, Mike, himself, who is now able to hear and see your messages, appreciates and values your thoughts. Our time and resources are currently focused solely on Mike's immediate health needs, but we will be scoping out the targets and goals of this fundraising effort in the coming days.  In fact, Michael, in his earliest moments of lucidity, was already talking about creating a charity project as part of his recovery goal. Some of his first words were "I miss all those people so much" and "When I get better, I want to give something back."     

   Perry Trautner is Michael’s brother and is caring for him and managing this site along with tremendous support from the Big Sister, their mother, Joan and the other Lynne, Lynnie Van (Hyning), Perry's partner. Mike is also getting wonderful moral support from his faithful dog, Rosso, Rosso's amazing caregiver, Carey Heartborne and his many friends like you.

Michael continues his intensive rehab at home with the support of a team of therapists and carers. The rehab process is slow and arduous.  You messages and support make this journey possible.
