Our Fight for Selena

Donation protected
Selena was born February 23,2016 two months premature. At that time it was discovered she had nine different drugs in her system. Cps was involved and my mother, Selena's maternal grandmother was granted temporary custody. My mother was told she could adopt her after a year but unfortunately in September she was diagnosed with lung cancer. The case worker felt she could no longer care for Selena so my husband and I were permitted to care for her fulltime. We were told by the case worker to get licensed so that we could become Selena's foster parents. On the 21st of February my husband and I went and got our fingerprints done. An hour later I recieved the call I feared the most, they said I did not pass the background check so therefore they had to remove Selena from my home. I asked if there was anything I could do and was told our only option was to find a family that could pass a background check and get her. Until then they still had to take her and they didn't care that her birthday was in two days nor did they want to take any of her belongings. I had to insist on them to take her special milk. After two days my brother and sister in law were able to get her out on her birthday. We were told she had been throwing up and she appeared down and with a runny nose. The following days she continued throwing up with diarrhea, and has had a few fevers. She has never been this sick in our care. Today she finally appears to be feeling better and her spirit seems happier. As of now Selena is a ward of the state and we want to fight to adopt her. In order to do that we need help. I haven't been working much because I have been caring for my mother as well. We have hired a lawyer and have given all we can to start this process which will take anywhere from 6 months to a year. We can't imagine our lives without her, we deserve her because we have done more for her then her parents ever have. We want to give her a better chance at life. We want nothing but the best for her because she brings out the best in us. Any amount anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated in this fight for Selena's freedom. She belongs with family. God Bless.
