This site will affect Darley Abbey, Breadsall, Chester Green, Allestree, Strutts Park, Chaddesden, Oakwood and Little Eaton – as well as the tens of thousands of people who live, work, or attend the many schools, sports and social clubs in these areas of north Derby.
BACKGROUND
On October 12th, Derby City Council passed the application for the ‘Development of facilities to enable the testing of a new technology based on a pyrothermic conversion process utilising SRF (solid recovered fuel) and erection of external 20 metre high chimney stack for a temporary period of 18 months.’
In layman’s terms, this equates to the development of a waste incinerator; right next to several densely populated residential areas, a World Heritage Site, Darley Park – enjoyed by thousands of people every week – as well as a nature reserve and the River Derwent.

Until recently, a small group has been raising awareness and funds to gain legal advice against the proposals. Since permission was granted, a public meeting attended by over 80 local residents showed the concerns of many, and now a committee has been formed to fight this development going ahead.

WE NEED TO RAISE FUNDS URGENTLY TO CARRY ON THE FIGHT TO STOP THIS DEVELOPMENT.
We need to raise a total of £15,000 to fight this planned development. As we carry on fighting this in court over summer, we are looking to raise urgently £6000 to pay our specialist environmental solicitors and planning barrister as they do their vital work.
