Do you want to change the world? We do! That’s why we launched Operation Heatwave two years ago. That’s the fancy name for our project to raise £32,000 for a new heating system in our church building! We’ve raised £16,000 and need to find the same amount again to reach our goal. ‘How will a heating system change the world?’ we hear you ask. Read on!...
We’re a vibrant, family friendly church located in Upper Saxondale, Nottingham. We are a people that love to serve our communities in any way that we can, we want to share God’s love with people and make a difference to every person that we meet. We are Catalyst by name and we aim to be Catalyst by nature, causing healthy and empowering transformation in individuals and society.
Whilst we are a church full of people who love to make a difference wherever we are, our ability to operate effectively within our own building is considerably hindered by the ice cold! We kid you not, I mean seriously…penguins would be very happy living in Catalyst at the present time. Our hot water bottle collection is indispensable to us and is the only thing which enables most of us to be in the church for any length of time! It’s hardly conducive to welcoming more people from the community into the church. We want to launch initiatives in the building which allow us to connect with people, to serve and bless them.
The building is over one hundred years old and is deteriorating as a result of the cold. We want to restore it as a faith based community resource for people in Upper Saxondale. We also want to stop the cold causing other major issues such as damp and mould. Solving the heating issue will allow some of these problems to be addressed and help restore the church back to its former glory.
