Operating Arab Millennial

Donation protected
Arab Millennial (AM) is a social enterprise based in the UK that contributes to progress amongst the global Arab community.

We do this by:
a) Building awareness on global issues
b) Providing training for personal development
c) Equipping professionals with data, statistics and other resources related to Arab affairs
d) Providing a platform to facilitate coworking between Arabs and other ethnic community groups

Arabmillennial.net has received an average 20,000 unique monthly visitors since January 1st 2017, our biggest audience being the United States.

As an enterprise, Arab Millennial has various projects that help it reach its desired goals. One project that we engage the general public is our opinion section. The opinions expressed on Arab Millennial platform represent the authors who wrote them. These include the general public who is strongly encouraged to send us their submissions. Second, we have Project Spotlight, in which we highlight millennials from the Arab world whose work influences progress in the region. This includes artists, philanthropists and entrepreneurs. The  objective of this project is to support and promote different projects and create a network of individuals and organizations whose goals are to achieve intellectuality, equality and progress in the Arab world.

A new project that Arab Millennial started is the Arab Millennial Support Program. The AMSP is an initiative that helps similar, socially-conscious enterprises improve their operations in terms of visibility, website impressions, social impact and revenue. We do not charge upfront costs for website design, development and marketing tools; rather, we invest time in conscientious initiatives in return for a small form of financial dividend based on monthly profits. These profits are then used to help maintain and develop the Arab Millennial social enterprise – this way, we can grow together.

A long term project is a annual Arab Millennial conference by which millennials from the Arab world are selected to represent their nations as delegates to the conference to discuss important matters in the Arab world. The reason this project was created for the long run, (when the organization has the needed resources) is the failure of the Arab League to address the problems the Arab states continue to face. The conference will produce reccomedations that will be published on the platform website for potential use as policy consulation.

The team behind Arab Millennial is amazingly experiences and each member has a rich diverse background that allows the enterprise to run from different perspectives. Arab Millennial has opted for the horizontal work structure which is a Scandinavian concept. On balance, we have decided that it is more important for staff to develop a more cooperative work ethic whilst placing little emphasis on individual work politics.

The co-founders of Arab Millennial are Osama Filali Naji, a British Moroccon who has an extensive experience in the feild of journalism and policy. Shatha Sbeta, on the other hand, is a Libyan American with experience in grassroots, mobilization, and advocacy. Together, the co-founders wish to change the face of Arab journalism from a top-down approach from the media to the people through creating Arab Millennial as a platform for a shared journalist space. As a team, they hope to engage millennials from the Arab world to take matters in their own hands, express their opinions in a professional manner that will consequently help advance thier careers. Furthermore, the enterprise has Lawrence Joffe, who is a committee member at Meretz UK and a freelance journalist at The Guardian. We also have Sheikh Hossam al-Allam, our board member, who is an Islamic scholar from al-Azhar University, promoting moderate Islam in the region.

Right now, Arab Millennial is lacking the financial resources to be able to put its projects into practice. Therefore, we created different income generating programs such as the AMSP where we make a small percentage of the profits of the initiatives we help set and support. We are also planning to launch our online store, where we sell products designed by millennial artists from the Arab world. However, to begin these projects and for the long term sustainability of the enterprise, we ask for your support to contrinute in any way possible in helping us reach this goal of $5,000 for the remaining of 2017.

As we continue to work on registering the enterprise and setting its bank account, we predict everything to be finished by the beggining of the new year. However, and due to the fact that we need the funds between now and then, the money will go directly to the co-founders who will later transfer the amounts collected to the registered bank account.http://arabmillennial.net
