Hi! My name is Myo Lin Thway and I’m a street vendor who runs Burmese Bites. Burmese Bites has been doing so well as a food vending business and I couldn’t be more grateful for the love and support it is always receiving. During our five years in vending at the Queens Night Market, my family and I have been passionately cooking authentic Burmese dishes for you. Now we would like to take the passion to a whole new level and erect a storefront at the Queens Mall! I set up this Go Fund Me Page because I believe that with the help of our Burmese Bites family and supporters we can achieve great things. Our goal is $75,000 and I would very much appreciate any donation.
The main reason I would like to launch a brick and mortar is because Burmese cuisine does not get the attention it deserves. There were once a couple prominent Burmese restaurants here and there in Manhattan, but rising rents killed them off. Furthermore, our neighboring Asian countries such as Thailand, India, Vietnam, and China all have significant representation in the food industry while Myanmar is left quite unnoticed. We can bring recognition back with a Burmese Bites storefront and hopefully encourage others to indulge themselves in Burmese culture.
All in all, I would extremely appreciate your help for this Go Fund Me page. Burmese Bites has already come so far in this vending industry. We’ve appeared in renowned publications such as The New York Times, served as a finalist for the 2015 Vendy Awards, won the People’s Choice Awards at the 2018 Vendy Awards, and were named in the top 26 Best Food Carts by foodnetwork.com. But I know we can go farther and higher and accomplish so much more with determination, support, and an ambitious outlook.
