This is Ava Grace Fisher, our beautiful little blessing. She was born on December 29, 2017 and diagnosed with William’s Syndrome - a rare genetic disorder that often results in heart and blood vessel (cardiovascular) problems, musculoskeletal defects and learning difficulties. Ava was born with 2 holes in her heart along with very narrow arteries and vessels.
Ava’s had quite a challenging time in her little life with over 10 heart surgeries in 20 weeks. Her first was only a few days after she was born to band her heart to enable the holes to close and insert a stent to open her arteries and allow blood to flow normally. After a few weeks, she was finally stable and healthy enough to go home. Her family was overjoyed to have her home, but one week later at a check-up, it was advised that she go for immediate open heart surgery due to her arteries narrowing again and her heart working too hard to pump the blood.
Ava’s remained in the hospital since then undergoing multiple heart surgeries. Doctors are still not sure when she will be able to go home. Currently, she is sedated because doctors are unable to close her chest due to swelling of her heart. They tried closing her chest once, but had to open her back up again to give her heart more time to heal.
Ava’s mom, Jamie has been staying at the hospital day and night. Her dad, Denny, works 6 days a week trying to provide for his family and goes to see his wife and daughter as much as possible.
It’s not easy to ask for support, but we’re trying to help relieve some of the financial stress created by this 4 month hospital stay so Ava’s parents can be solely focused on the healing of their daughter.
