Mamaroneck Schools Need You

Donation protected
The mission of OneMamaroneck is to organize a passionate and critical mass of community residents, businesses and organizations, such that they (1) Speak, (2) Act and (3) Grow together to address and resolve systemic issues of diversity, anti-bullying and toxic leadership within the Mamaroneck Union Free School District (MUFSD).

Funds will be used for the activities below starting in February 2019 and until further notice.  A full accounting of funds will be updated quarterly and made publicly available for review on the OneMamaroneck.org website .  Any funds not disbursed at the time that the campaign's intended objectives have been accomplished or the campaign has been ended by OneMamaroneck will be donated directly to the school district, to be earmarked for similar objectives during the school year that such action occurs.

1. Retain attorneys to assist families and the community in investigating and mounting a legally sound argument/rationale for the removal of the school superintendent (Robert Shaps) as well as the board of education's former vice president (currently member/Trustee) Paul Bulova

2. Hire diversity and inclusion experts to help the board to create and track it’s progress toward achieving goals specifically related to diversity and inclusion, including a surveying of all stakeholders regarding their experiences involving incidents involving racial bias and bullying

3. Provide parents and the community the opportunity to attend racial literacy and trainings on the Dignity for All Students Act

4. Implement racial literacy curriculum and lessons for students at school district schools

5. Hire outside consultants to help the district revise (and create where absent) the district’s procedures and protocols for investigating and following up on Dignity for All Students Act complaints/reports made, to add specificity and timeliness of action and consistency across and between all the district’s schools/principals

6. Retain attorneys to investigate the district's reporting of bullying and harassment incidents that occur in the district’s schools

7. Retain attorneys to monitor how the district is responding to the community regarding issues of diversity and inclusion and bullying/harassment and the board's efforts to actively seek out community feedback outside of regularly scheduled board meetings

8. Hire diversity and inclusion experts to help the district create and facilitate affinity spaces/groups for students and staff in each school based on an extensive surveying of parents, the community and staff

9. Hire community-vetted racial literacy experts to regularly train district administrators, school teachers, school staff and students

10. Hire outside consultants to help the district substantially increase the diversity of the school board and all school staffing positions, especially at the teacher, school administrator and district administrator levels

11. Hire independent accounting firm to audit and monitor use of the GoFundMe account and all funds deposited into and disbursed from the account
