Friends, I turn to you to help my maternal grandfather Paolo Tanasi, recover his health again. Recently he fell in his front yard which resulted in a severe hip fracture needing corrective surgery.
My “Nonno” Paolo is an Italian immigrant who arrived in Venezuela at the age of 15, fleeing the ravages of World War II, hoping to build a better life on the other side of the Atlantic. Regrettably, history is repeating itself and this time family members and closest relatives have emigrated with the hope of being able to guarantee the subsistence of those who are left behind in a country already in shambles.
As some will know, Venezuela is a country currently going through a very deep political and humanitarian crisis, where the health sector is one of the most affected, with a shortage of basic supplies, qualified labor and facilities suitable to meet the needs of the population.
It is a very difficult situation and this campaign is the way I find to collaborate from Germany, where I live. The only thing we ask is for my grandpa to live his last years with the best quality of life possible, giving him the opportunity to finish his life story with dignity.
We have limited resources and there is no such thing as health insurance, each day that passes the country economic woes complicates the situation. This funds will be used to cover the expenses of the surgery, medicines, osteosynthesis material and all necessary pre- and post-care. I will use MoneyGram or Smallworld to exchange the money and deposit the bolívares in my grandfathers account. It is an uphill battle to find the necessary supplies and practically everything must be purchased abroad. Therefore I appeal for your help, thanking you in advance for any possible collaboration to cover the expenses of the surgery.

Liebe Freunde, ich wende mich an Euch, um Paolo Tanasi dabei zu helfen, wieder lächeln zu können. Er ist mein Großvater mütterlicherseits aber vor allem mein Vater, denn ich hatte keinen außer ihm. Erst vor kurzem ist er in seinem Garten in Maracay gestürzt, hat sich den Oberschenkelhals gebrochen und braucht jetzt dringend eine Operation.
Paolo ist ein Immigrant aus Italien, der im Alter von 16 Jahren nach Venezuela gekommen ist, auf der Flucht vor den Schrecken des Zweiten Weltkriegs, in der Hoffnung sich auf der anderen Seite des Atlantiks ein besseres Leben aufbauen zu können. Traurigerweise wiederholt sich die Geschichte nun. Jetzt sind es seine engsten Verwandten die emigrieren, in der Hoffnung denjenigen, die in Venezuela zurückbleiben, das Überleben möglich zu machen.
Wie manche vielleicht wissen ist Venezuela ein Land, das zur Zeit in einer großen humanitären Krise steckt - dabei ist das Gesundheitswesen am meisten betroffen. Der Ausfall der Grundversorgung, der Mangel an qualifizierten Arbeitskräften und Einrichtungen, um die Menschen ausreichend zu versorgen, macht ein normales Leben dort unmöglich.
Es ist eine unglaublich schwierige Situation, auch für mich im Exil - diese Aktion macht es mir zumindest ein bisschen möglich meinen Großvater aus der Ferne zu unterstützen. Das einzige, was ich mir wünsche, ist dass Paolo für seine restlichen Jahre noch ein bisschen Lebensqualität hat und ihm die Möglichkeit zu geben seine Lebensgeschichte in Würde zu Ende zu bringen.
Es gibt keine Krankenversicherung für alte Menschen in meinem Land und Ich verfüge leider nicht über die Geldmittel, die Operation komplett zu finanzieren und jeder verstreichende Tag macht Paolos gesundheitliche Situation noch schwieriger.
Es ist ein schwieriges Unterfangen, die notwendigen medizinischen Utensilien dort zu bekommen, fast alles muss aus dem Ausland importiert werden.Ich werde moneygram oder smallworld benutzen, um das Geld und die Kaution auf das Konto meines Großvaters zu überweisen.

Paolo es un inmigrante italiano que llegó a Venezuela con 15 años huyendo de los embates de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, con la esperanza de construir una vida mejor al otro lado del atlántico. Lamentablemente la historia se está repitiendo y esta vez son sus familiares más cercanos los que emigran con la esperanza de poder garantizar la subsistencia de los que se quedan atrás.
Como algunos sabrán Venezuela es un país que actualmente atraviesa una profunda crisis humanitaria, siendo el sector de salud uno de los más afectados. Con escasez de insumos básicos, mano de obra calificada e instalaciones aptas para atender las necesidades de la población.
Es una situación sumamente difícil y esta campaña es la forma que encuentro de colaborar desde la distancia. Lo único que deseo es que mi abuelito viva sus últimos años con la mayor calidad de vida posible, dándole la oportunidad de terminar dignamente su historia de vida.
Contamos con recursos limitados para cubrir los gastos de la operación y cada día que pasa se complica su situación. Se hace cuesta arriba encontrar los insumos necesarios y prácticamente todo debe ser comprado en el exterior. El dinero que logremos recolectar se usará para cubrir gastos pre y post operatorios, medicinas y material de osteosíntesis.
