Friends and Family,
Trooper Charles Cowden, has been diagnosed with Lead Poisoning. Health Insurance and Worker’s Compensation are not covering any medical expenses or treatments. Life for the past year and a half has been very strange, challenging, and uncomfortable. But, my family is gaining strength and love for life every single day. As difficult as this experience has been, we are grateful.
On September 8th, there will be an adult slowpitch tournament fundraiser and silent auction at D-BAT Sportsplex in OKC. In addition to the tournament and auction, we will have activities for kids to make this a family event! There will be cornhole, horseshoes, a home run derby, and more. All proceeds will go to Charles and Kristie directly to cover costs for treatments, medicine, tests, etc.
One particular organization has been a major support and blessing to our family throughout this journey. Therefore, all proceeds not used directly for medical expenses will be donated to COHPS (Concerned Oklahomans for Highway Patrol Society), to ensure their ability to continue making an impact in the OHP family.
For more information, there will be a Facebook page coming soon that will have Charles’ full story and be constantly updated with new details. If you have any pictures with Charles, please share via Facebook messenger. Any photo, from barbecues to OHP events to high school memories is perfect!
We want to make this event open to EVERYBODY. It is a fundraiser, but also a way for our friends, family, and especially the Oklahoma Highway Patrol family to get together and share stories, laughs, and memories.
