Online Hockey Association

Why are we creating a GoFundMe campaign?
To help with the costs associated with running the league. Some examples include hosting for the website, our site-wide chat, improvements to the community aspect of the site (profile pages, forums, locker rooms, etc.) and the stat-tracking.
We have been operational since 2014, and have kept our community quite small. But with interest in eSports and the popularity of gaming as a whole increasing, we are beginning to see a steady growth in our league's size.
We have gone from a few friends who didn't even know there were leagues, just looking for a way to play more structured hockey to running a fully-functional (most of the time) league for everyone to join.
Ultimately the goal is to completely customize our league in the same manner as the end of season awards. This will include team names, logos, season length and tournaments, truly making the OHA our own.
With around 200 currently active members, with additional members taking the season off, and new members signing up all the time, we have nowhere to go but up.
Help us get there. Please include your Gamertag so we know who you are!
What is the Online Hockey Association?
And why choose "Association" over the much more popular "League"?
Here is the definition of Association:
An organization of people with a common purpose, and having a formal structure.
The act of associating, or state of being associated.
Friendship; companionship.
While the format of the Online Hockey Association was inspired by other leagues who similarly utilize online multiplayer gaming, we decided to forego the title of league, and opted for the current Association.
We are exactly that.
An organization of people with a common purpose.
Every member of the OHA has a voice, and every voice lends inspiration to the OHA as a whole.
Whether suggesting improvements on the website, different ways to improve gameplay, statistical categories, the list goes on.
We prefer not to be compared to other leagues for the simple reason that every league has its own set of standards and guidelines.
Ours are simple.
Come play competetive hockey in a friendly environment, and respect those around you.
Bill Parcells said it best in his Hall of Fame speech:
Losers assemble in small groups, and complain about the coaches and the players in other little groups...but winners assemble as a team.
We represent the same mindset. If we all work together, we can make the Online Hockey Association a success, a league where everyone can have fun, enjoy themselves, and experience a decent level of competition. This is more than possible if we collaborate.
How is the Online Hockey Association different?
The Online Hockey Association isn't about the numbers.
We are a league which will pride itself on fun, friendly competition. The main purpose is to come together and assist one another, and act like an actual community.
We do not play favorites. The administrative team, general managers, assistants to the GMs and members are on the same level, and every rule applies to each and every person in the OHA.
If this sounds like the kind of community you wish to be a part of, sign up. Everyone is welcome in the Online Hockey Association!
