Mark Bowen's Medical Expenses
My husband Mark has terminal brain cancer. It is incurable and despite all treatment options he was given 3 yrs to live. After 1 1/2 yrs it is growing again in 3 places. As we travel this journey there are multiple doctors appointments and MRI's. Even though I work full time and we have medical insurance bills are mounting. We know that at some point I will have to stay home to take care of him and it will be without pay. We are attempting to raise money to help pay medical bills and hopefully have some to help pay for care when the time comes. We thank you in advance .+ Read More
Update on Mark we have had good days and bad. He for the most part is unable to use his left side at all, is eating less and less and has to be fed most of the time. Confusion is becoming more common. When I started this page it was in the beginning of his illness and his income went to 60% of his normal income. We are thankful for any income but if you live on two full time incomes and then one drops to 60% it makes a huge difference. Of course there were multiple medical bills and now I pay $2001 per month for his care after insurance and medicare at the hospice house. Unfortunately the cost to live did not decrease by 60% nor did the bills that are owed decrease. Any donations are much appreciated. If everyone could share this page it would be most appreciated. Thanks to those that donate and lift us up in prayer.
I know it has been a while since the last update. Mark is now not able to use his left hand for anything and is now having a hard time even being able to move his left arm or leg by himself. He is loosing dexterity in his right hand and now requires help to be fed and can no longer log on to the computer alone as he is unable to type anymore. He is trapped in his body in his bed and it is heartbreaking. He has been at the hospice house for 6 months now, longer than any other patient has stayed there. If they feel he isn't progressing fast enough they can tell me he needs nursing home which is absolutely not a financial option as we have nothing in savings anymore and nothing to sell. With them being an average of 7-$10.000.00 per month you can understand why. Bringing him home would require 24/7 care and I would have to hire help as he is up night and day and I must continue to work full time to manage day to day expenses to live. To those that have given to our cause, there are no words to say thank you enough, please share out post with anyone you know. I am trying to build up funds for the possibility of him having to leave the hospice house. Thank you to all that lift us up in prayers, that is what keeps me going.
Mark continues to decline, he is now completely bed bound and is becoming more confused and has hallucinations and is having panic attacks. He swallowing is not good he is starting to choke on some foods and drink. We know that God is in control, it is hard to see him decline. We pray for a quick and peaceful passing as he has no quality of life. Please continue to share this page as I am trying to raise money for our cost to get him and our family back home to Mississippi when he passes. He will be laid to rest in a family cemetery that we already have plots for. He will be flown and we will have to rent cars that can fit all of us in there to get us home instead of taking multiple cars. Thanks again for all that lift us up in prayer.
Thank you again to all that have donated to our needs and shared it with others. Mark is now unable to stand and has had further neurological changes. Our son is getting married at the end of this month so his Dad can witness and share in the joy of seeing his son get married. Please continue to lift us up in prayer and share this with those that you know. Kind regard-the Bowen family.
