National Association of Care & Support Workers
We are raising money to start an official register for people delivering care.
The register has to be accredited by Professional Standards Authority and we need to pay £12000 for it.
Our hope is that the register will make the care environment safer both for people using care and the ones providing it.
We want the register to help us raise the profile of care work and help it transition to a respected, recognised and skilled profession.
We are an independent, not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers and owned by its members. It was set up on March 30th 2016 to be a collective voice for care and support workers, to empower us in the debate that care working is not an unskilled job, but a stand-alone profession in its own right, by raising the profile of the care and support worker vocation, and gaining the recognition it deserves.
NACAS works alongside local and national governments, regulators, professional societies and charities.
Our aims are to:
· ensure care and support workers are involved in shaping policies and contributing to the decision-making process
· ensure that people receive the highest level of care
· help others recognise that the work we do requires many important skills, and should be seen as a profession in its own right
· improve training and standard requirements and provide our members with fact sheets and resources that can enhance their skills and the care they provide
· promote the best possible practice in care and support work for all people who may need care by maintaining an accredited and vetted membership register
· demonstrate a commitment to our vocation, protect the public interest and raise public confidence and respect in our profession, whilst also protecting the well-being of our members.
· provide information to raise our members’ awareness of their legal employment rights.
