My dream is to go to Grad school at NYU Steinhart School for Music Therapy.
I’m Olivia, a 24 year old French/American jazz singer & musician just graduated from McGill University with a Bachelors degree in Music & Voice Performance.
I researched music therapy while studying at McGill. I loved the idea that I could combine my love of music with my desire to help people. I hope to attend NYU in pursuit of my goal to become a music therapist, to assist people in need. I particularly would like to work in regions and countries where these services are not offered or where poverty is a significant barrier to accessing such services. The music therapy degree offered by NYU is a comprehensive one that combines musical excellence with a genuine compassion and an understanding of the possibilities inherent in this practice.
NYU’s 2 year program is made up of renowned psychotherapists and clinicians, extensive research, lectures and seminars, access to internships in many different facilities in the NYC area; in medical centres, shelters, prisons and homes for the retired, ill or homeless. Within the Department of Music and Performing Arts, I will also have access to a large spectrum of music-related opportunities.
It’s a great school but the tuition is steep. I've put money aside from summertime jobs and gifts, received a scholarship and my mother is helping a lot, but the tuition is still too high. So if ever you can contribute, it would be so greatly appreciated, whatever the amount you might give.
The donations will go towards tuition, books and transportation.
NYU’s tuition is $50 760 per year.
I received a scholarship of $12 600 + $3000 for work study = leaving $35 160 tuition per year.
My mother can help me with $16 000 per year, basically my living expenses.
So my aim is to reach $15 000.
The rest will come from my savings.
I am also a jazz singer and composer and am passionate about music and voice. Striving for multiple chords on my arc, I will definitely continue singing, performing and composing jazz music.
I can gift your donations with performances, lessons, private or charity concerts, my photography and my mom has suggested proposing her artworks as well. (see below)

My name is Luisa Maisel. I'm a ceramic artist from NYC and Olivia’s mother. To help Olivia pay for her Masters degree at NYU, I will contribute a portion of her tuition, but I cannot take on the entire cost. So, to help Olivia finance her education, I'm proposing my artwork in exchange for donations.
My ceramics works are handmade in my studio in Lyon France, or recently during my residency in Japan. The works will be delivered via UPS or Fedex. The additional cost for sending will depend upon where it is sent, its size, weight and volume. Contact me for further information : [email redacted]
