NY CD-11 Town Hall

Why Plan A Town Hall?

South Brooklyn and Staten Island have organized to create NY-11 Town Hall, an evening of learning and conversation about issues facing Congressional District 11, currently represented in Congress by Rep. Dan Donovan (R-NY). The event will be held at the Bay Ridge Manor on Wednesday, April 19.

Created in response to broad-sweeping changes in the federal government, NY-11 Town Hall is an opportunity for the public to listen to and ask questions of experts in: education, environmental sustainability, equality, health care, housing, and immigration. Questions for the panel can be submitted in advance through https://ny11townhall.com/

The event was timed with the upcoming congressional recess to enable Rep. Donovan's attendance. However, he has formally refused the invitation and will not attend.

The Congressman has not hosted a town hall since his 2015 election and we believe it is time that he checks in face-to-face with a large number of his constituents, well before his 2018 campaign. Furthermore, we will not let Donovan's silence be our district's ignorance. In collaboration with several community groups, we have taken a proactive approach to informing and empowering our neighbors.

Several prominent organizations will co-sponsor the event, including: Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NY), New York State Nurses Association, Jericho Project, Veterans for Peace, Arab American Family Support Center.

Initiated by Fight Back Bay Ridge, NY-11 Town Hall was organized in collaboration with Bay Ridge Democrats Action Committee, South Brooklyn Progressive Resistance, and Staten Island Women Who March.

NY 11 Town Hall is a free event. RSVPs are limited.
