Nuumu Poyo Hike

Donation protected
In August, through Native Womens Wilderness and Indigenous Women Hike, I will be hiking the Nuumu Poyo Trail, also known as The John Muir Trail.  I will be joining ten other indigenous women, and under the Religious Freedom Act of 1978, we will be traveling the Paiute ancestral trading route.

I can't begin to tell you  how meaningful this 210 mile trek is to all of us.  Together we will walk the trails of the Paiute Ancestors to reclaim the land and walk in prayers.  I'm not Paiute, however I am Navajo and a sister whose People also lost land to colonization.  I will be supporting them as they walk the land of their ancestors and pray with them. It is a great HONOR to be invited on this beautiful journey!  This is something big, beautiful, and POWERFUL!  Can you see it?!  Eleven Indigenous woman trekking this trail and reclaiming it!

What your contributions will go towards:
- Garmin In Reach Explorer + $449
- Freedom Plans for Garmin & processing fees $94.85
- Plane Ticket $500
- Needed Gear $500
- Food & mailing fees to send boxes $300
- Used Camera $500
- Assistance to other hikers in needed gear $200
___________

- Upcoming Expenses, Rent, utilities, etc. $2000 (if there is any extra coming in, it will help go towards this)

With the Garmin, you can follow us on our paths and engage with us.  It will also help keep us safe in the event something would occur.  We are still needing gear, all cooking gear, first aid kits, sleeping mat, and other personal gear.  I would also like to assist other women in gaining their needed gear, as we do this together, We Stand Together.  All the gear that you're able to assist in will go directly into the Native Womens Wilderness gear closet for upcoming trips with Native Women and Girls.  I'm also hoping to use the camera to participate in several publishing articles regarding this trip and to document the gear that was donated to us by major outdoor companies.  And finally FOOD! You can say it's a necessity. ;)
