Our Story:
Greetings to everyone on Mother Earth, and thank you for taking time out to read the words of our story! We are
Nubian Farms, a farming family consisting of momma, poppa, and our 5 small daughters! We are reaching out to our community to help us raise the funds to Rebuild our farm and continue to produce fresh all-natural , non-gentetically modified fruits and vegetables and herbs for the local community and schools.
Now y'all may be wondering why we use the word "Rebuild," in regards to the farm, Right? Well last year around this same time we were actually renting a home that had a little land for us to to grow fresh produce for the community and those in need. When we attempted to get funding to start the farm, we were constantly rejected, and left with an choice: either give up or work the land by hand. So of course we worked the land by hand, and we were able to produce a small harvest, to which we donated to the local church for the members in need. Though we didn't have much ourselves, we knew that there were many food deserts within our community area, and we needed to try and make a difference.
At the end of last year, we suffered a great loss: the owner of the property decided to sell the property from under us, and we were forced to give up our small garden and had to search for somewhere to stay. Our family ended up moving into a small apartment in a city in Arkansas near a family member. In addition, it was even harder to get to locate or travel to land beacuse our only vehivle suffered motor damage and broke down not long after arriving here, so we have had limited mobility! BUT then a ray of hope came along. We met a young woman who believed in or dream to farm and began looking for land in Indiana (where she lived) that might allow us to farm. After 6 months of searching, prayer and meditation--she located a small plot of land, to which we would have permission to farm for a short amount of time until could afford our own land. Our lease has ended at the temporary apartment to which we have been staying for the past 8 months, so we must move and we have only one shot to get to the land and farm for the people.
The Funds will be used in the following way:
__Fixing the vehicle for the move: $1000
__Moving to the Land and housing: $1000
__ Small farm tools/supply to work land: $700
__Seeds to get started:$300
We have asked for this small amount , because we want to not just ask for help, but show that we are willing to work hard as a family to earn the rest of the expenses amount. Our family is trying to raise the money within the next few weeks, because we must leave from this apartment, and the next move must be to the land, or the dream may not be achieved. This means ALOT to our family. In our society where families are being torn apart left and right--our family has struggled to overcome the obstacles of the chaos and hardship of having a large family and return to the land to grow and distribute all-natural enriching produce that will promote mind, body, and soul healing for the community. The foods we are seeing today are causing more harm than good, and we have a plan to farm healthy foods to help our fellow brothers and sisters gain access to those foods that will provide the nutrients needed for survival.
