Keeping My Family Afloat

Donation protected
Hey Everyone!

Right now we are in a bit of a quandry, as my boyfriend Josh is out of work due to having his third (yes, third) open heart surgery to fix a valve. He has been out of work due to his heart problem and other medical issues for almost 6 months now, and I have been supporting this household of three on my disability and not much more.

We are falling behind on bills, not including his new medical expenses. I'm doing the best I can, and have been taking work as I can find it but frankly I'm having no luck in that department, especially as my disability limits my ability to work in any capacity, including writing. The household needs a new vehicle, as my current one is a serious death trap in need of more work than it's currently worth, and is the only vehicle we have - and it's inspection sticker runs out in June. Sadly Maine is lacking in public transportation and this vehicle is how we get anywhere in the state - doctor's appointments for all three of us, to get food, medicine and other necessities, trips to the ER...anywhere. It's all we have and needs to be replaced with something more reliable, and frankly, safer.

Then there are the medical expenses for all three of us, but especially for Josh as he has no health insurance and has to rely on hospital help for his doctors - which doesn't cover everything, nor does it cover his meds. Mine and my daughter's are at least covered for the most part, so our addition to the medical expenses is minimal in comparison. And as he recovers from his third open heart surgery, ER visits are getting more common, as anything can go wrong - though he seems to be healing nicely. ER visits are not cheap!

We are also looking to move, as the trailer we currently rent from my father is just shy of needing to be condemned, and is no where near big enough for the three of us. It was a tight fit with just Jasmyne and I, but adding in Josh really made for a squeeze. Jasmyne is a teenager now, and a room that was fine for a 4 year old is far too small for a 14 year old...not withstanding the damage done to this trailer over the years. Jasmyne has voiced fears about various issues with her room recently, such as the fear of the ceiling caving in on her during the night due to some water damage from years ago. So I would like to get somewhere with a healthier environment for my family.

I could set my goal at 500,000 and probably still not be able to cover everything, but I don't want to scare you guys off. We aren't looking for handouts, just a help up during a very difficult time. We are stretched well past the breaking point for my income, with bills and food alone, never mind all the other expenses of life. We do live within our means - we rather lack any choice in the matter if we want to be responsible with our money. I rather hate asking for help, and am a very private person, but I'd rather ask for help than lose my mind in private - which I am close to doing.

I will continue to write as my illnesses and time allow, and Josh is looking into avenues to get more income into the house while allowing him to heal fully - which will be at least another two months, if not more. Which means we're looking at a situation that can only get worse.

If you've read this far, thank you! We know money is tight everywhere right now, but we genuinely appreciate any and all donations.
