Since 2013, Nozama Dance Collective has presented bold modern dance works on the female experience and the female empowerment movement. Through raw athleticism and complex partnering, Nozama portrays the empowering reactions of women in this current political climate and society. Directed by Gracie Baruzzi and Natalie Schiera, the company has performed in numerous festivals, and has produced four full-length performances, all surrounding the themes of female empowerment. Nozama is also partnering with the Big Sisters Association to teach movement workshops to girls ages 9-13 and their Big Sisters, in which topics such as healthy body image and girl power are explored. Nozama is also proud to be co-producing the collaborative performance festival, “Empower One Another”, with OnStage Dance Company, in which companies are paired to create novel new works together.

With this fundraiser, we hope to keep partnering with companies that value our mission and bringing innovative, modern dance surrounding the themes of the female experience to the public! We are currently building a new, concert-length piece entitled “Text Me When You Get Home”, centered on the subliminal yet ubiquitous endurances of the female experience, but the strong community that links us.

We are also looking to expand our workshop series with the Big Sisters Association, holding more annual workshops and reaching a larger network of youth included.
