Tanya's Breast Cancer Fight

Foot on the gas, wind whipping her hair, cruising through the canyon, and fully at peace...this is our Tanya. A beautiful, fierce, passionate soul, full of fire, love, art, music, photography, travel, and LIFE!! Tanya is the woman who will grab the bull by the horns, look them in the eye and tell them to sit down...and they oblige. She is a force to be reckoned with, a mother of four, a daughter, and an amazing friend to many.
But this amazing friend, mother, warrior was diagnosed with Triple Positive Invasive Ductal Carcinoma-HER2 Positive, Stage IIB in early May. She first felt a lump in early April and sensing something was wrong, scheduled the appointments to find out what the lump was.
By early May she got the diagnosis no one wants to hear: the biopsy tested positive. A subsequent biopsy of enlarged lymph nodes in the axilla also tested positive.
Tanya is currently undergoing 6 rounds of TCHP chemo therapy every 3 weeks. Upon completion she will undergo surgery, radiation, reconstruction, and then a final 14 rounds of HER2 targeted chemo. This entire process is anticipated to last at least a year and a half.
While employed, Tanya had amazing insurance that enabled her to receive the best care. Now that she is on an extended leave of absence to fight this disease, her employer-based insurance is lapsing at the end of July, and she is in dire jeopardy of losing her progress and amazing care team due to the high monthly cost of the Covered California program. Not only is she facing this threat, but should she lose her insurance, she could be subject to a tax penalty for lack of insurance!
We only want Tanya to focus on Tanya and be the f**k cancer warrior she is. We need her to get better and we don't want her to have to worry and stress over whether or not she can afford to go to her next infusion, or how to creatively finance the monthly insurance premium and then worry about how she's going to pay her regular bills. She has no savings or 401k to do an emergency draw from. While her children and father would do anything for her; their resources are limited too.
