WE ARE NMAC, Northern Manhattan Arts &and Culture.

NMAC.NYC

We are a coalition of artists, cultural organizations, and community stakeholders committed to growing and supporting the cultural ecosystem of our Uptown communities of Washington Heights and Inwood.

Through our mission to Engage, Empower, Advocate, and Celebrate our arts and culture in our Northern Manhattan neighborhoods, NMAC creates a forum where local artists and organizations can exchange ideas, voice their needs, and expand their reach.

We convened 100 artists and community stakeholders at the Northern Manhattan Arts Summit to create the vision for our neighborhood's arts and culture agenda. Over the past year, we have engaged over 350 artists and arts consumers in our monthly meet-ups. We believe we can continue to empower and preserve our communities through our vibrant cultural life.

BUT we need your help!

We are calling on neighborhood heroes and New York City visionaries to support the bold and committed work of Northern Manhattan Arts, and Culture has begun. We are counting on local artists, community leaders, and art lovers to help us receive a 5:1 matching grant (that’s right-- QUINTUPLING
our goal!) to support the arts and culture in our neighborhoods through 2017 and beyond. 100% of our steering committee has personally donated money to this cause, along with untold hours of grass root efforts to put this initiative in action and carry it forth. Please join us in making the arts a centerpiece of our communities!

Neighborhood Visionary: $4500 pays for an entire month of NMAC operational costs: allowing for ongoing
efforts to bring resources, advocacy & partnerships to artists & arts organizations in our ‘hood!

Neighborhood Champion: $1000 pays for one week of NMAC operational costs: allowing for ongoing efforts to
bring resources, advocacy & partnerships to artists and arts organizations in our ‘hood!

Neighborhood Hero: $145 pays for a day of NMAC operational costs, the above for a day.

Neighborhood Defender: $100 pays for monthly maintenance of our online community resources: connecting & celebrating artists and organizations to materials, spaces, events, training, & opportunities.

Neighborhood Advocate: $75 pays for 1/2 the expenses of a Community Artist/Advocate meet-up: FUN opportunities for artists and organizations to expand possibilities, build mutual support & collaboration, share information & networks and learn more about what our arts community has to offer.

Neighborhood Friend: $50 helps pay for an educator for a professional development workshop: targeted industry training for artists and organizations—often IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD!

Neighborhood Artist: $25 helps pay to hire artists: for NMAC events, exhibitions & performances.

Neighborhood Friend: $10 pays for communication flyers for one NMAC meet-up or event: making it possible for anyone to join us regardless if they have access to an online resource.

We thank you in advance for your support!

Hello all, my name is Yuby Hernandez, and I am one of the Steering Committee members for NMAC. I would like to say how amazing it has been working with this group of individuals. They are so diverse and well connected within the community and have the passion to make arts visible in Upper Manhattan. I myself am always astounded by the work that we get done. I would like to thank everyone who has already donated to the campaign. I cannot belive we already have nearly $1000. And with that being said. One of our steering commitee members has gotten us a match. If we gather $3,500 they will match us the other $1,500. So please donate. Please help us continue the amazing work that we have done, and Thank You so much for those who already have donated.
