NOLA Initiative/End Traffic Cameras

The $17,000 fundraising goal is Phase 1 of the funding goals. This will pay for yard signs, printing costs of petitions, and promoting the petition through various media. It does not include the cost to go to court if we face a challenge. We will deal with that if and when it happens.
The City of New Orleans only requires 10,000 signatures of Orleans Parish registered voters to get a charter amendment on the ballot. We are raising funds to collect the signatures for a petition to remove all traffic cameras from Orleans Parish. We wish we could do this in Gretna too, but the ability to get it on the ballot is not as easy.
With only 10,000 signatures needed, all we need to do is get this initiative on the ballot. There is not a deadline to get this done. We can take as long as it takes to get the required signatures. We do not anticipate raising or spending any money once the petition is certified as it is likely that this measure will pass with about 70% of the vote. Campaigning after the measure is placed on the ballot should not be necessary.
As of the day this is posted, we are in the initial stages of drafting the language. Funding is needed to pay attorneys to draft the charter amendment, run a few ads in the newspaper containing the petition, campaign style signs, and print material.
