My Story
I remember a sunny day in Durango four years ago when my son was 10th in the JNQ standings. A good race meant meant he moved up and made it to Junior Nationals. For many, a once in a lifetime opportunity. Billy didn't make it that day and my wife and I were somewhat relieved. Why? Because this once in a lifetime opportunity comes a high cost for the athlete in terms of training and dedication, and the parents in terms of financial responsibilty.
The Plan
I am truly proud of these three athletes that did make it and would love to help shoulder some of the financial burden for their parents. I have watched Ezra Smith, Peter Haynes and Noelle Resignolo put in countless hours in the weight room, on roller skis, on good snow and bad, in the dark and in sub zero temps, I have seen their parents sacrifice dinners, work and bobble schedules to make sure the kids could pursue their love of fighting gravity on skinny skis.
The Costs
Let's start a proud tradition and give these kids the send off they deserve. The monies raised will help offset the costs of travel including flights, lodging, food and beverage as well as uniforms and race fees. Estimated cost per athlete is $2,700.
