Hi, we're the team at Noddfa Dawel! We've worked for years with beautiful people trying to change the world and noticed that many of those on the front line were dealing with compassion fatigue and burnout. This is unsustainable, and it's clear that there's a need for a place for these people to recharge- so that's what we're trying to do.
We've got ourselves a building with 7 bedrooms set in glorious Welsh countryside, only 5 minutes from the pretty coastal town of Aberystwyth, including a small patch of land we're hoping to transform into a herb, veg, and flower potager style garden. With access to nature and a break from TV, wifi, and responsibilities, we hope to provide a space where people can get back in touch with themselves, looked after by our Caretaker.
The owner of the building has generously allowed us use of the space rent free, but we still need funding to get the project off the ground. Our main categories of funding need are:
-offering retreats at reduced cost or free to those who need them but cannot afford our rates
-building renovation and repair as the space is in need of some TLC
-set up costs including new bedding, eco cleaning products, and a
wholesale food order to get us started
-administrative costs such as insurance and council tax
Who are the retreats for?
Anyone who is working for a better world and needs a break, for example:
-activists, especially those living on protest sites who would benefit greatly just from a comfy bed and a hot shower
-teachers, social workers, carers, others in high stress nurturing roles
-front line healthcare workers
-people who have experienced a patch of high stress or trauma, e.g. a court case or bereavement
What do we offer?
-comfy spacious private rooms
-funded places for those in need
-peace, quiet, and access to nature
-fully catered vegan meals
-space away from the 24hr news cycle, pressures, and responsibilities
