NO Needle Exchange by Parks & Schools in Chico, CA

Donation protected
Stop NVHRC from starting a dangerous needle distribution in Chico next to our schools and parks.  Families in Chico are retaining legal representation to file an injunction to stop the needle exchange slated for the Chapmantown and Mulberry Street neighborhood and Park Avenue.  We need your help.

1. The problem with the NVHRC proposal:

a. The NVHRC has previously provided needle exchanges illegally in and near our parks and schools. Are they to be trusted?

b. NVHRC says they provide for prescription and non-prescription drugs, yet those with medical needs can get clean syringes at medical facilities and pharmacies and not in a city park.

c. NVHRC is hurting the very people they claim to help by keeping them out of the medical loop, although claim they hand out referrals.

d. Parks and waterways are being heavily polluted by transients and drug addicts. Providing syringe exchanges in some of the proposed areas will lead to more human pollution as these people will continue to populate the areas without seeking the help truly needed.

e. According to Action News our mayor, Randall Stone wants to give cash for needles. How does this help the root of the problem, drug addiction?

f. Less than half of needles are returned statistically and the remaining dirty needles litter our parks and city.

2. A Solution to the Northern Valley Harm Reduction Coalition (NVHRC) application.

a. Hold syringe exchanges at an actual medical clinic.

* There are many medical clinics in Chico to provide this service.

* Medical clinics are cleaner, having professional personnel to provide and administer the help needed.

A mobile van dispensing needles near Chapman Elementary school is NOT a safe idea. Nor is the location appropriate within .3 miles of Chico County Day School.

Please reject the North Valley Harm Reduction Coalition needle exchange in Chico, CA. They refuse to name who else besides Angel Gomez is officially running it. Northern Valley Harm Reduction Coalition has NOT asked for public input at a city council meeting. They have no verifiable data or oversight. They are possibly violating a rule of harm reduction by having a needle exchange static location in a cafe/bookstore that sells alcohol and has a liquor license.

No one at NVHRC has asked the community surrounding the needle exchange if we want this around our kids. And NO.  We don't.  Those who speak up and say No have been bullied by NVHRC and their drug addict supporters.  Stop NVHRC from passing out needles like candy and put Chico kids first.

Thank you for helping to stop this and for protecting our kids.  Lets stand up for Chico. Just say NO to NVHRC and a proposed needle exchange in Chico, CA.

Sincerely,
Chico Moms 4 Safety
