No Mill in Goodwood!

Donation protected
We are a large group of citizens deeply concerned about a proposal to build an industrial scale grain-processing mill in Goodwood.  Our group is called the Goodwood Conservation Association and we are residents from all the neighbourhoods of Goodwood and across the Township of Uxbridge.  We want to save our hamlet from inappropriate industrial development.  We have over 150 members dedicated to this cause.

Goodwood is a small rural community of about 700 people nestled on an environmentally sensitive area called the Oak Ridges Moraine.  This area is protected from unbridled development, especially industrial-scale development. Yet this mill has been foisted on our community using a loophole in the law.  The proposal calls for the mill to be built on rural land, close to residential neighbourhoods, schools and next to sensitive farms.  We are standing up and saying no to this proposal, but we need help.  The odds are against us, but we aim to upend the odds and stop this proposal.

We are not against business.  But we think this business is not right for our community.  We are pushing for the company to locate in one of the industrial parks in the Township of Uxbridge or elsewhere in Durham.

Uxbridge Council voted to approve the re-zoning of the property and issued formal notice to the Town on April 16, 2019.  Unless residents file an appeal to the decision before May 6, 2019, planning and construction of the mill will begin.

Our strenuous objections and loud voices are now not enough to stop this mill.  We now need to raise significant funds for the legal fight ahead of us.  To have a credible appeal submitted, we need to a hire an experienced Municipal Planning Lawyer and an expert Municipal Planner to help win this fight.  Please consider donating to our cause and sending a message to Town Hall.   Together, we can win.

Our funds are being held with the Royal Bank branch in Uxbridge.  We track all donations, and any funds left over will be refunded on on pro-rata basis to every individual donor.
