Gabes story

This is Gabe's story: at around 12:37am Sunday morning, I (Halley, Gabe's girlfriend) woke up to Gabe having a seizure. Gabe has no history of seizures, so I called 911. When the paramedics got to our apartment, Gabe was very confused about what he was doing and did not remember what had just happened. We then got into the ambulance and headed to Mercy hospital. In Mercy, they had to take a blood sample and do a CT scan on his brain. The doctors then came back in and told Gabe that he was going to have to stay, due to abnormal activity on the left side of his brain, and that he was going to need an MRI. We were then moved up into a room, and Gabe was taken to have an MRI which lasted for two hours. After, the doctors came back to the room and let us know that Gabe had either a tumor or a mass on the back left lobe of his brain, and that he was going to have to do a biopsy to figure out what exactly it is. A couple of hours later, and after thinking he was going to have immediate surgery, the doctors let us know that they would not be able to go ahead with the surgery, because the tumor is next to the speech-processing part of the brain and they need a special MRI to see exactly where the speech parts are, so as not to damage them. We are now headed to Iowa City to see if they will be able to perform surgery, or to find out if it is too risky, because of the possibility of Gabe losing the ability to speak. During this difficult time, Gabe and I are not working, bills are adding up, and now we are going to face additional medical expenses. Anything helps, and we are hoping for a speedy recovery and to beat this!
