Help the Simpsons During Recovery

On June 11th Tony hit a tipping point. Everyone and everything in this world has a tipping point, water freezes at 32 degrees. Tony’s tipping point came with a burden of shame surrounding the addiction to alcohol he had been hiding from his friends and family, the lies that built, and the feeling that it would be easier to end his life than to dig out from under the weight of the stigma. Fortunately, Tony is still with us today. Had we lost him I think we would all agree that we would pay any amount to bring him back and that is what this is about. This is about helping to save Tony’s life. He hesitantly agreed to enter a treatment facility after leaving the hospital where he is now doing really well. He is doing soul work. The work that changes a person’s life. It is the journey to getting the Tony we all know and love back. The journey to him finding his joy again. To being a husband and father. This treatment has caused a financial strain on the family as Tony is currently receiving inpatient care and is out of work, and the cost of treatment is high. I want to take time to thank everyone who has sent packages, mail, and support. I also want to thank anyone in advance who is capable of helping with these costs. It is suggested that it only takes 6% of a population to be a tipping point for social change. If you are unable to help financially I ask that you be part of the 6% that actively works to fight social stigma against addiction and mental health. We all cross a threshold in our lives where something changes, where there is no turning back. We can also be the tipping point that lets our loved ones know that we will love and support them unconditionally. Check in on people, even those who appear the strongest. When you ask someone how they are, listen for the real answer. Slow down. Take time for yourself. Ask for help when you need it.
