Hello,

My name is Rob. I am a single father of two beautiful children, and have been since 2005. I have been trying to make life better for myself and my kids for a few years now. As a way to do this, I have been going back to school. In 2006 I decided to become a Medical Assistant, and decided to go to Hightech Institute for my education. I flew through school and got hired during my externship. I was happy to have this job that I had worked so hard for. Unfortunately, the pay was not enough for me to live on my own with my kids.

So, I decided to go back to school again. This time I decided on nursing. I looked into nursing schools, and picked Century College. I was excited to be starting on this journey. However, it would come at a price. The "credits" that I earned at Hightech Institute would not transfer in as useful credits. This meant that I would have to re-earn all of those credits, and pay for them again, too. So, I did that. I got all the way through into my third semester of nursing school (which is not easy). That was where I ran into some issues, and made some decisions that derailed all of my aspirations. I was dejected, and decided to hold off on my nursing career for a while.

I went and got a job as a medical assistant again. The pay was much better, but was still not enough for us to really live on our own. So, after 2 years, I decided to go back to school again.

I have learned from my mistakes and am currently attending another Nursing School. The issue that I am faced with now is that I must pay everything out of pocket. All of my federal loan money was taken up by Hightech, Century, and 1 semester at St. Paul College.

This is where I am asking for your help. I currently owe $4700 to my school for the quarter that is ending this week, and will owe roughly the same for the next two. I am only hoping to raise enough that I can continue in school.  However, I set the goal higher in order to possibly raise enough to get through the rest of school. Any excess will be paid forward to another go fund me, so that others can also benefit from your generosity.

I must pay off my current balance in order to continue on in school. As stated earlier, I only have two more quarters left. Then I will be able to take my board exam, become an RN, and eventually afford to get a house for myself and my kids.

My kids mean the world to me and I want to be able to show them how to really work toward a goal. I want to thank anyone that has taken the time to read this. To those that decide to help, there are no words that could adequately express my gratitude, you are amazing. Thank you.
