Safe Home for the Terminally Ill

Nagomi Foster Homes - for hospice patient is located in Waialae Nui in Honolulu, HI.  We are a small non-profit organization that provides safe heaven to the terminally ill people who can't be cared at home or has no family.  It is not a facility but a HOME in a quiet residential neighborhood.  In 2015, we  served 10 people who passed away peacefully under hospice care, including 2 with no funding.  

The area patients stay used to be my mother-in-law suit facing front yard.  It need some TLC now.  Since it is facing north, it is rather dark during the winter. We are hoping for sky-lights to brighten the rooms.  It also has a step-up to one of the bedrooms. The bathroom tiles are pealing off and has a stop-over.  The picture you see is our deck. It is the best part of our house but the floor level difference limits the access to ambulatory people only.  If we can correct the level difference, it will be wheelchair accessible and many more people can enjoy outdoor air there.  

We are hoping we can start renovation by June 2016.  Imagine a bright room where dying people can have their last days with smile?  Where a patient and family can have a mini-picnic on the deck next summer?  

After over 20 years of working for hospice organization, it was my dream to have a home for dying people.  Not in a nursing home with constant beeping and shouting.  Not in a hospital with all tubing and poking.  A tranquil home with warm smiles.  Please join us to create one.  Please help us to celebrate life of each person.  A little corner of this world, together, we can create a heaven.
