NJ Books for Barranquilla is an organization started by two Jersey girls, Karina and Juliana Squilanti, that has partnered with Fundación Pies Descalzos or ‘Barefoot Foundation’ located in Colombia. Fundación Pies Descalzos helps provide education and aid to underprivileged children by building schools in the cities of Cartagena, Barranquilla and Quibdo; areas with high poverty rates and low education levels.
Our goal at NJBB is to collect books for children aged 5-10 to fill the shelves at the new library at the Barranquilla campus in the La Playa district. We aim to collect 100+ books, in Spanish and English, in new or near-new condition. The books will be delivered this November 2018 by the founders of NJFB and we are so excited! We hope that this small gesture gives the children of these communities access to quality reading and enjoyment, straight from the heart of New Jersey.
All donations will go to buying new Spanish books for these children.
