Growing up in the streets of North Chicago, I didn't always make the best choices. Some of the decisions I made, caused me to be taken away from my family and friends for periods of time. Being young and black in prison, in the system, sets a tone for the rest of your life. A very negative one. It makes it hard for you to succeed. To the world your just another statistic, another negative blemish on the neighborhood you come from. But me, I feel like it's a hard life lesson learned. You learn how important time is, and how its mandatory to not waste a second. That's why as soon as I touched back down, I got right to work determined not to allow my time on this earth be in vain. I learned that your loved ones, those nearest and dearest to you are all you got. When I came home I was welcomed with genuine love and assistance from those that mean most to me. That's why its my ultimate goal to make sure I'm in a position to look out for them as they looked out for me. My mother I want her to proud and well taken care of, other brothers I have were lost to the system. And I don't want to go out like that. In her eyes I want to be something more. I want her to look and say "my son he did it, he beat the odds". I want to be there for my brother, to ensure he can accomplish whatever it is he sets out to do, life isn't as simple for him. Having a disability makes life that much more hard, and I would love if my efforts could make his life seamless. This is a dream, no scratch that this is a goal that I have set for myself and those around me. I could be just another dude who comes home and settles for mediocrity, but no I'm better than that and my life is worth more than that. I have chosen to be the voice of my generation, the voice of my city. The voice that says despite your past and oppositions if you are determined and work hard you can accomplish anything. And I intend to do it all. and with your help I believe I can. The money I recieve will go towards studio time, production, videos, promotion and marketing. This is no ploy to "get paid" but a humble request from a young man who's trying to be something better. Thank you.
