Ninja needs your help.

The past three days have been very draining for Ninja. I woke up a few mornings ago to him completely drained of his energy and very weak. He had little to no interest in socializing and when offered things like treats or the chance to escape ( the latter he usually goes crazy for) he just laid there and was showing me that he was losing his strength in this fight and fast. A few minutes later after checking litter boxes and the rest of house for any thing that could clue me in I found clear vomit in multiple spots, showing he hadn't eaten in a while. I immedieately rushed him to the nearest vet where he was kept overnight on fluids to reduce a fever of 104. I went in the next day and they informed me that they couldn't find a real cause for the fever and that he was diabetic and will likely need insulin shots for the rest of his life. This was a shock and upsetting to say the least but maneagable none the less. In addition he had two weeks worth of antibiotics to take.

Ninja came home with me lastnight and we were very happy to have him back. He was his usual self until his required insulin at 9PM. I gave his shot and let him rest as the veterinary office usually takes it out of him. After a while I decided maybe the line had been crossed over from just being tired and he became lethargic again. At first we thought was just exhaustion from adjusting to diabetes, medication, and all the excitement of this event. I monitored him closely and decided after his condition didnt improve that he needed to go back.

Sure enough his fever of 104 was back. The doctors thought it would be a good idea to monitor him for another 12 hours and to give him subcutaneous fluids to help hydrate and help with the fever. I had to agree that this was the best option for both of us in case something happened as he was very sick and I had been up entirely too long and wouldnt be a good caretaker when so tired.

As of today his fever is down and he will be coming home if all goes well. At this point I luckily already had an anonymous party to pay the deposit for day one as well as helping me pay the rest of that particular bill. Withouth this help he would not have been cared for so although they need repayment, were essential and basically an angel in this situation in terms of saving Ninja. In addition to that I have incurred more charges lastnight for the second visit which took most of my savings I had left after buying the first round of insulin and related items. I have been a full time student for over a year and at a point I had to stop working because the difficulty of my studies increased and I feared grades would be affected if I couldn't devote all the time I needed. My savings have slowly dwindled over the past year and a half so this was an unexpected expense and would have been unmanageable without the help I recieved.

Over time, I can pay back the money my donor has given, and although any assistance with this would be appreciated this is not my main worry. My main worry is that both my donor and I have expended our limits and if the fever returns I will have no way of paying for more medical services. Lastnight was very difficult for me as I was out of money and trying to determine how far this would go and what to do if the fever did not subside and kept coming back. There were talks of euthinization which I really do not want to entertain solely due to a lack of funds. Ninja is still very healthy and lively other than this diagnosis and I believe if he can pull through this fever his quality of life will still be wonderful as it has been for years. I have had him since he could fit in the palm of my hand and he has been nothing but a best friend to me over the last eight years. He is still a boy at heart and it would kill me to see his time taken early. He does not deserve to leave here yet. I would like to see him live to be an old man, I really think he has the potential.

Any extra funds raised after paying back the looming medical bills will be put towards his future medical expenses and nothing else. Ninja would appreciate any help he can get!
