Nikki’s Breast Cancer Battle

Donation protected
Hello,

My name is Sarah. I’m asking all of my friends and family to please take a moment to read about why I’m starting this GoFundMe.
On July 26th 2019, my sister Nikki was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. She just celebrated her 40th birthday in February. Our family is shocked and devastated to say the least.
Nikki is my big sister, and someone I look up to. At 18 she had a job, but no car, so she would walk to and from work in the middle of the night because she was working graveyard shifts. Once she was more stable, she decided she wanted children, so she had 2 boys, Damien and Devon. Nikki ended up having to be a single mother for most of their lives, and adjusting to that lifestyle was hard. She worked endlessly so that she could provide for her family, even if that meant Damien had to come to work with her while she waited tables. Due to different circumstances, Nikki ended up adopting our nephew J.J. who was 3 years old and our niece Niomie who was a newborn baby. So in the blink of an eye she became a single mother of 4. But there wasn’t one time that she complained, she loves them all unconditionally and with some help from our mother she was able to make it work. She is truly a selfless and beautiful human that has always done the right thing and put everyone’s needs above her own. Whether that means working 2-3 jobs to make ends meet, or giving up her time to support her children with everything they do. Now it’s time for her and all of us to put HER first.
I say all of this to let all of you know that she doesn’t deserve this, and I can’t understand why it’s happening to her, but all we can do now is fight.
At this point Nikki is in the first stages of her treatment and the financial burden is already evident. She has to pay 15% of every scan, biopsy, poke and test after insurance.
As I said she is in stage 2, but she is having a biopsy done of a tumor found on her lymph node that if found to be cancerous, she will be treated as stage 3. All of the scans and tests are really never ending and overwhelming.
The treatment plan is that for 16 weeks she will be on chemo. After that she will have surgery which requires a 4 week recovery. And after that she will be on chemo for another 12 weeks. Which means using her vacation time and missing out on work (and money). Her work is being amazing and understanding, but there’s only so much they can do. That’s where I’m asking for all of your help, and support. Nikki still has a family to care for. J.J. is 17, Damien is 15, Devon and Niomie are both 14. They are still her babies and she will do anything for them, but we need her to focus on beating this disease, and I’m hoping that taking some of the financial burden away will ease her worries. So please, help any way you can. Whether it be a donation or sharing this page, everything helps. Thank you everyone for taking the time to read this, we love you all!
