Help Nikkie Study Abroad

Hi, everyone!

My name is Nicole (Nikkie) Ubinas and I will begin my third year at Brown University this fall. As a low-income student from Washington Heights, it has been a privilege for me to study at this institution. I am the first in my family to attend college and through my studies I hope to one day be able to give back not only to my mother, who has sacrificed so much for me, but also to the communities that have helped me make it this far.

I was recently accepted into a study abroad program that will allow me to pursue my goals of learning about grassroots organizations and movements specifically working to liberate poor and working class people of color around the globe. Through this program, I will be able to study in Brazil, India, and South Africa during my fall semester. However, this trip will not be possible without a lot of sacrifice. I am receiving some financial-aid through my school, but it is not able to cover all of the expenses for this trip. I am saving up all of my summer earnings, but it is still not enough.

This is why I am turning to you -- my family members, friends, and communities who have supported my journey and growth for so many years. With your continued support and contribution, whatever it may be, I will be able to pay for my expensive visas, immunizations, my books and supplies, fall storage, and more.

I do not know if this opportunity will ever become available to me again,  so please help make this dream possible! Anything helps!
