Nicole Ironman World Championships!

Donation protected
Nicole Erato is from St. Maarten and is an all-round athlete whose primary focus is Triathlon. This past weekend (March 19th) she competed in the 70.3 Ironman Puerto Rico, which consisted of a 1900m swim, a 90km bike and a 21km run, and placed 4th in the Women's Division (ages 25-29). In doing so she earned a qualifying spot for the 70.3 Ironman World Championships which will be held in Chattanooga, Tennessee on September 9-10, 2017. She will be representing St. Maarten among the top Ironman athletes in the world.

In 2017 Nicole has also placed:

1st Place - Trail Du Littoral
1st Place - Siapoc to Siapoc
1st Place - Mo Trouble Masters Series Race 1
1st Place - Trisport Triple Mini Triathlon Series
1st Place Hell's Gate Triathlon Saba
3rd Place AUA Rohrman Race in Antigua competing against top World Triathlete Andrea Hewitt and Tour de Goudeloupe Champion Christine Martinez.

Nicole was Sint Maarten's Department of Sports Athlete of the Month for February.

Nicole is also currently the only Female Triathlete in the SPA (St. Maarten Promising Athletes) Program. She is training and will be competing in the 2018 Caribbean and Central American Games in Barranquilla, Columbia representing St. Maarten. In 2019 she will be competing in the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru and potentially in 2020 she will be representing St. Maarten at the Olympics in Japan.

Besides having a large online presence (Facebook, Instagram, Strava and BananaTV on YouTube) Nicole also helps to organize the “SXM Ladies Rides”, which allows women new to cycling to build their confidence. Her motto of “living by active example” shows those around her that hard work pays off and true dedication will shine through.

In addition to her heavy training schedule, Nicole has dedicated herself to a life of healthy living and eating, including a plant-based diet which fuels her body and aids her strength, endurance and recovery.

She is going to smash in as much training as possible in the next five months! Part of this training is attending other Ironman 70.3 races to gain more experience (as this was only the second half Ironman she has ever done) so funds raised here will go towards plane tickets, accomidations and race entry fees. It will also go towards the purchase of the equipment needed to have a shot at competing with world class athletes. This will include a TT (Time Trial) Bike that is specific to long distance triathlons as well as a TT helmet. And let's not forget, a wetsuit for that chilly Chattanooga water! Nicole has a long road ahead and wants to do her best to represent Sint Maarten in the Ironman 70.3 World Championships 2017. To do this, she needs your help!
