Nick Zarin-Ackerman Park Bench

We’ve all been thinking so much about Nick these past few weeks —about who he was and what he means to each of us.

It’s easy to call someone unique, but he actually was one of a kind. He was hilarious; he was warm. He was a good listener and had an especially kind heart. He was a talented writer, a brilliant talker and the world’s best guy to just hang out with and crack jokes. He was always reading at least two books at once. He had a voracious appetite for movies and pop culture and could dissect films, albums or artists from the most mainstream to the most obscure. He could draw anything, effortlessly. And, of course, Nick was a great musician and songwriter; he wrote some of our favorite melodies and lyrics. He was a true artist.

Yes, Nick was gifted—and the one constant for all of these talents was that he was almost always seated! So, in the spirit of Nick’s love of reclining and his roots on the Upper West Side, we have decided to dedicate a bench in Central Park to him: a bench where friends and family can meet up to laugh, talk about the world, tell stories and bring the kids. Or to settle down solo with headphones, a great book, or a guitar and, of course, think about Nick, who meant so much to so many and who we will miss forever.

Maybe we’ll see you there…
