Nicks' journey for his children

Let me tell you a little bit about Nick…
Nick is an extremely intelligent, lovely, vibrant yet reserved individual whom although I’ve worked with for over a month now in China, I have only just recently began to get to know him. He is a very talented artist and musician and also a devoted father to two children aged 9 and 2. Just today, Nick quietly informed me of his troubles he is currently going through and I can not help but feel empathetic towards him and at least attempt to try and help him with his struggles.
Originally from the USA, Nick came to China to work as an English teacher with aim to build a life here to start for his wife and children. His wife is currently working away in India and his children were staying with his parents back home. Like many families can be, Nick informed me that his own is far from the ordinary and has had multiple issues with certain members; in-particularly his estranged sister who he has not seen for 12 years. Recently, the said sister got in contact with Nick to see his children and Nick thinking only of his children thought it would be great for them to begin to build a relationship with their Aunty, who had only previously seen the eldest child once.
Since then Nick has been told that his sister and her husband have filed for guardianship over the children and although many attempts have been made, they will not communicate with him, will not let him contact his children, and telling him only to go through their attorney. You see, his sister and husband are both very wealthy, intellectual individuals who are using this power over Nick who does not have a financial advantage. I can only imagine the indescribable stress and worry that is going on inside his head which can only begin to be resolved once he is back in the USA.
He has already sought legal advice with attorneys back in the USA and has been informed if he can make it back as soon as possible, with the right attorney there will be no problem with him winning the case and rightfully and legally gaining access to his children. That being said, he needs to pay $5000 for attorney fees up front just to even begin, which he does not have. Not to mention the flight costs, the accommodation costs to stay in the state where the case is open (the list goes on). This is not only damaging to his life, to his plans he made for his family but also dramatically to the little funds he managed to save whilst being here in China. He is currently dependant on his upcoming wage which will come through on the 15th of this month, so after the 15th he will begin his journey back to the USA; therefore we don't have long. I don’t expect to raise a lot of money, but even just a little could help ease his journey and help him towards his fight for his children.
