Nick R. SRHS Baseball Eagle Project

My name is Nick Razzano.  I am a sophomore at South River HS and a Life rank scout through Troop 223 - East Brunswick.  My proposed project to earn the rank of Eagle is a mashup of my passion for baseball, and my family belief of giving back to our community.  I can’t remember a time where I didn’t play baseball...from moments in my backyard as a kid, to my years as a South River Little League ELK, then into middle school - where we were undefeated in 8th grade, and now as a Varsity player - where we became GMC  Central Jersey Group 1 Blue Division Champs last year.  Scouting has reinforced my community service.   I have learned a lot since I started as a Pack 4 - South River Cub Scout in 1st grade, and then bridged into Troop 223 in East Brunswick to continue my path of the Scout Oath with ideals of being Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.  Please support me and we can make a difference together.

     There will be various parts to the overall project.  It will include, painting the home and away dugouts, both inside and outside, and replacing some of the wood from alongside the bottom rear part of both dugouts. In addition, to clear an entrance path area for the away dugouts which is currently being blocked, and clear out the home area entrance.  Alongside Coach Lepore, I researched items to install like hat, ball, and bat holders in both dugouts. I hope to be replacing the memoriam sign on the home dugout side, and creating another sign. Lastly, I will be ordering items to be used by the middle school, JV, and varsity teams for practices in order to improve fielding, hitting, and pitching at the field.

     For my project, I reached out to Coach Lepore, Mr. Buffalino - Athletic Director, Mr. Pfister - Superintendent of Schools, and Mr. Bladja - Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds to help make my idea a reality. Special thanks to Mr. Berzok, my Eagle advisor, and Mr. Waite, my Troop Leader, who proofread my documents until they were ready to be proposed, and continue to be a major influence as I earn my rank.  I truly appreciate everyone's assistance.
