June 16, 2017 my beautiful friend Jennifer was diagnosed with breast cancer.  She is just 31 years old.
Jen and her husband Bryan have 3 small children, the youngest just 11 months.
In recent weeks, after much testing, they discovered she has stage IV breast cancer or IDC ( Invasive Ductal Carcinoma) which is also HER2+ ( very aggresive and  quick spreading). The cancer has spread to multiple lymph nodes, and mets on the spinal bone and liver.  Her current treament is 3 rounds of chemo, surgery, then radiation, then more possible surgey and chemo, if needed. She will be on HER2 blockers for 1-2 years after all that. With all this comes multiple PET scans and MRIs to check progress. Not to mention, trying to raise their  children, Keirsten (6) Serena (4) and Ethan ( 11 months) in the middle of all this.
Jennifer had her first chemo treatment July 11 and has many more to go before this is over. The cost of cancer treatment is astronomical and the Nicelys need YOUR help . Every dollar you give is a dollar that gives this family a chance to fight . Jen is willing to do whatever, endure whatever and fight whatever she has to in order to secure a future with her family.
Please join the fight  by giving for her treatment and not allowing this cancer to cripple this family finacially.
Please join the fight  to give Bryan and Jen peace of mind knowing they don't have to worry about finances, but can focus on their children and Jen's treatment.
Please join the fight  in praying for Bryan and Jen and their children in their time of need

Jen got her latest scan results...
The good news is all old cancer cells on bones & lymph nodes are inactive and there are no new active cells. There is still an area of concern and that is the tumor in the breast is still active and just slightly smaller. So they are switching some of her meds to hopefully try to shrink that tumor more. There are plenty of options available for this, it’s just going to be finding the right one that works for her. So more of a trial and error situation for the next few months. Surgery is a last resort as most surgeons won’t touch a stage 4 tumor. Good news is nothing is spreading or growing so her blockers are working and we have time to find the right drug to fight the tumor. As always thank you all for your support!

Chemo is over! God had His hand on Jen and answered prayers during the last 2 rounds, the doctor was shocked with how minimal the side effects were as rounds 7 & 8 of the type of chemo given to her are usually the toughest. She will continue receiving 2 drugs given through infusions to block the HER2 receptors every 3 weeks, this is helping prevent the cancer from spreading. In addition, she is also getting a couple shots every month, one for bone strengthening and one to stop production of her ovaries; this is because her cancer cells are fed on estrogen so the food source needs to be eliminated. A pill is taken every day to help combat the estrogen as well. In the near future she will be having a total hysterectomy but is thanking God every day that He has already blessed her with 3 beautiful children.
Since Jen’s cancer is Stage 4 she is told she will never hear the words “remission” or “the cancer is gone” and will have to continue the regiment above for the rest of her life or as long as her body will tolerate. That’s not how she sees it though. Jen believes in God’s miraculous healing power and is staying positive that she will be healed and live a full life! Until that miracle, she says she will continue listening to her doctors and staying positive. She has a few doctors, some here in Prescott and some in Phoenix, and they all have so far agreed that this is the correct treatment plan for her. The fight is not over and she is no where near giving up! She wants to send her thanks for all the prayers and support as that is helping carry them through all of this.

Update: the last MRI showed awesome shrinkage of the primary tumor and many of the small satellite tumors are gone. The main one was 4.5/5.5 and now is 1.6/2.1! Other side is still good. Doing round 7 today and round 8 (hopefully last) scheduled for Dec 5th. Another PET scan will be 2 weeks after that. Thanks for the continued prayers!!

Jen made it through her first 3 rounds of chemo and had another PET scan done . Her results are AMAZING ! Tumor marks in her breast have gone down from 199 to 36 . There are no new lesions ( spots of cancer ) current lesions are stable and the lesion on the liver is COMPLETELY GONE ! All the areas with cancer in them are stabilized and not growing anymore. Another hurdle crossed , Jen has been taking bone strengtheners allowing her to be able to pick up Ethan again, yay ! She is starting another 3 rounds of chemo this week so keep praying and sharing the link ! We still have a long road ahead but trying to take one step at a time and will continue to celebrate one victory after another
