NicAbeja Proyecto - Beekeeping Kits
The NicAbeja Proyecto goal is to train beekeepers in Nicaragua.
Beekeeping is an inexpensive activity that doesn't require land or expensive start-up costs. The income ($360) from the sale of honey from just one beehive can double the annual income of a rural family.
With adequate training and support, a Nicaraguan man, woman or youth can become a beekeeper and supplement their family income.
A beekeeper starter kit costs about $150. This includes 2 box hive, 20 frames, colony of bees with queen, tools and supplement sugar feed.
NicAbeja Proyecto raised $3,600 in 2015 to provide 24 beekeeping starter kits to potential beekeepers in Nicaragua. We hope to raise another $3,600 in 2016 to continue providing beekeeping starter kits.
Thanks to your generosity we have raised over $12,000 in 2016, far surpassing our goal of $3,600. This will enable us to provide more beekeeping starter kits and have a bigger impact on beekeeping in Nicaragua and on family's finances.
The beekeepers will reimburse the cost of the kits once they sell their honey. These funds will be used to purchase beekeeping starter kits for new beekeepers. Thus the project will be sustainable.
Whether you donate $150 for a beekeeper starter kit or any other amount, your donation will be greatly appreciated.
Your donation is tax-deductible. The Nicaragua Bee Project is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

We are awaiting word from Nicaragua that Francisco, a young beekeeper that has been trained by the Nicaragua Bee Project will get his visa to come up to the USA for a month of visits to various beekeepers, as well as experience his first visit to the USA and his first time in a plane.
Francisco has been working with bees for 3 years now and has over 10 colonies. He's beginning to sell his honey as well as provide technical assistant to other beekeepers in Nicaragua.
His airline ticket to the USA is being sponsored by a generous supporter of the Nicaragua Bee Project. And his lodging and food will be provided by the host beekeepers he visits.
This is not a plea or request for donations, rather a report to let you know what your donations in the past have done to improve and expand the life experiences of one young man in Nicaragua.
Thanks to you all who have visited, viewed, liked, shared, supported AND donated to the fund drive. Without you we couldn't have done it.
We will be taking a break for a couple months as we plan our upcoming travel to Nicaragua to train new beekeeping groups and assist those existing groups.
We will be back this Fall to start a new campaign as we will identify more beekeepers that will need our help.
Muchas Gracias a todos. The bees thank you. This applause is for you!
