Support for a Friend and Classmate

Friends and neighbors, I am seeking your assistance for a dear friend and classmate as she and her mom are going through a tremendously difficult and frankly frightening time right now.
Mia is a senior at Point Loma High School and her mother is terminally ill and currently in hospice. Mia’s father passed away a from cancer a number of years back so her support system is largely if not entirely US, our local community.
Mia finds herself in need of funds to pay rent, utilities, medical expenses as well as numerous other things not many young women at her age figured to be on the hook for and doing so without her mom and dad. Mia also works and is an active member of a local organization for which she has spent 6 years volunteering 100’s of hours to San Diego philanthropies alongside me and dozens of her classmates.
Mia is graduating from Point Loma High School this June and had plans to attend college. Now having to support herself, deal with the pending loss of her second parent, medical and funeral expenses and addressing the threat of eviction, it is time for this community to stand up and step in!
She needs our support, therefore I am asking that we come together and offer up anything each of us can. Anything and everything helps including your gracious efforts to spread the word or even help her keep her place of residence.
