Katie's Fight

Donation protected
In January of 2015, Katie Yocom Guffey was diagnosed with cervical cancer. She was recently divorced and raising her two sons alone. She has been fighting for her life for the past 3 years. She has had three rounds of radiation and chemotherapy, surgery, and hyperbaric treatment 49 times. They currently have her on Keytruda, a medication that they hope will prolong her life. She is now in Stage 4 of the cancer. Doctors fear it could be spreading to her bones and they have even advised her to get her affairs in order. They believe she has a year or less left.
I have been friends with Katie since we were in high school and we were roommates in college after that.  I know how  fiercely she fights for things she believes in and people she loves. For those of you who know her well, you know she is like the Energizer Bunny! She's always been full of energy and she has proved that cancer is no match for her energy level. For example, she was up at 5am mowing the lawn the day after chemo!
I know she will continue to fight but I also know she is tired. Taking care of her family and continuing to run her daycare business all by herself takes time, energy, and money. She's had to miss work so many times for treatment.
She wants to be able to spend as much time with her family and friends as possible. She'd like to take vacations to make memories with them in the next few months that they can hold forever. It is my prayer that you will be compelled by Katie's story and give any amount you are able to to help with expenses for medical bills, every day expenses, and missed work.
I'd like to see more than $15000 raised so Katie doesn't have to worry about paying bills or rent. Anyone who has gone through any kind of illness or injury knows that you it is hard to focus on your health when there are financial obligations you have to meet. Please help us take some of the burden off her shoulders while she tries to get well and beat this cancer!
If you are not able to give financially, please keep Katie in your prayers. Pray specifically for healing. Pray that the Keytruda is able to prolong her life for as long as possible. Pray for her doctors, that they will be led to the correct treatment for her. Please also pray for her children.
