Shorebird Handbook Crowd Funding

“I feel like I am a millionaire not by the things I have but by the things I have given.” ― Manuel Corazzari
This is a part of a crowd-funding campaign of an independent(!) publishing project on shorebirds of the world.
'Give & Receive: A Campaign for Shorebirds'
My name is Gyorgy Szimuly (Living in the United Kingdom, but originally from Hungary) and I'm the managing editor and funder of an independent publishing project 'Shorebirds: A Handbook of Shorebirds of the World'. It is planned to be the most detailed reference to date, covering 142 shorebird species, published in 4 comprehensive volumes with unique maps, beautiful identification plates and artwork and hundreds of stunning photos.
The rather limited private project budget covers to create all the colour plates, some part of printing and publishing the first volume, but it doesn't allow to complete a series of tasks what makes this publication a real game changer. Apart of the need of extending our knowledge on shorebird science and conservation through personal consultations and workshops, there is a need to initiate basic projects. Travelling and participating conferences and workshops as well as covering travel costs for our projects are the most difficult parts of the project to find funds for.
As we are progressing with writing the species accounts, more and more questions emerge. We aim some of these questions to be answered with the involvement of local experts before the manuscripts are closed.
With this in mind, I ask the shorebird community, my friends and supporters to consider donating our efforts in publishing a wonderful reference on the world's shorebirds. We have some exciting rewards to offer for your donation.
Without being committed to a specific organisation or conservation project, I'm fully committed to support shorebird conservation from the profits of this exciting publication series!
Please visit our official blog for more information about the project at http://thenewshorebirds.wordpress.com
Last, but not least, here is another nice quote about giving:
“It is beautiful, beautiful to give; one of the very most beautiful things in life.” ― Elizabeth von Arnim
